Types of Pet-Friendly Hotels

From budget motels to luxury five-star resorts, you’ll find accommodations that welcome dogs, cats, and other pets at a variety of hotels. Whether you prefer a well-known hotel chain or a cozy boutique hotel, you can easily find a pet-friendly hotel that meets your needs.

Aloft

Dogs are primarily welcome at Aloft, with more than 200 locations worldwide, but there is a 40-pound weight limit. The hotel’s Animals Are Fun (ARF) program provides canine guests with exclusive Aloft-branded beds and bowls, as well as free treats and toys during their stay.

Best Western 

More than 1,200 Best Western hotels in North America allow dogs, and some also allow cats, birds and other small animals. Dogs are limited to 80 pounds, and a maximum of two dogs are allowed per room. Select hotel

Choice Hotels

Pets are allowed at over 3,500 select hotels worldwide. Select pet-friendly brands include Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn, Clarion, Sleep Inn, WoodSpring Suites, Suburban Extended Stay, Ascend Hotel Collection and MainStay Suites.

Extended Stay America

Extended Stay America hotels welcome pets up to 36 inches in length and 36 inches in height (maximum two pets per suite). Individual property managers may allow pets that exceed the permitted size and length, or more than two pets per suite.

Four Seasons

Many Four Seasons hotels allow pets. Some offer special amenities for pets, including treats and indoor beds, grooming and walking services, and more. Please check with individual hotels for more information.

Hilton

Many Hilton brands allow pets, including Canopy, DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites, Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Home2Suites, Tru, Waldorf Astoria and more. Pet fees and policies vary by hotel. So please call ahead for more information.

Hyatt

More than 500 Hyatt hotels welcome pets. Some offer pet-friendly extras like beds, bowls, and even pet photo opportunities. The Park Hyatt Chicago donates all pet fees to PAWS Animal Shelter.

Kimpton Hotels

Pets are allowed at all Kimpton hotels regardless of species, breed or size at no extra charge. Your pet also enjoys a loaner in-room bed, food and water bowls, and free assistance from a professional Wag Premium pet sitter to help walk, tuck or sit.

Marriott

Marriott has more than 1,500 pet-friendly properties across the United States, most of which accept dogs, cats, birds and fish. Participating brands include AC Hotels, Aloft, Element, Residence Inn, Fairfield by Marriott, TownePlace Suites, Westin and W Hotels. Please check with each hotel directly for policies and fees.

Motel 6

Up to two pets stay free per room at all Motel 6 locations except Studio 6 locations, which charge $10 per day.

Red Roof

Most Red Roof locations are pet-friendly and allow one dog or cat per room at no additional charge. Pet weight limits are 40 pounds at some locations and 80 pounds at others. Inquire directly with the hotel to learn more.

Ritz-Carlton

Some Ritz-Carlton hotels allow pets, but pet policies, fees, and amenities vary depending on the individual hotel. For example, the Ritz-Carlton, Bacara in Santa Barbara, offers charges $250 per night and allows up to two dogs per room as long as they weigh less than 50 pounds. The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Guelch in Colorado charges a $150 nonrefundable pet cleaning fee plus $30 per night for up to two dogs per room (no weight limit).

Staybridge Suites

Pets weighing less than 50 pounds are welcome at all Staybridge Suites, though some restrictions apply. Inquire with each hotel regarding specific pet policies, guidelines, and fees.
